↗Salem Common.
Park history & film lore
A familiar green on the silver screen.
Hocus Pocus used the Common for outdoor scenes. Its stone bandstand has a separate story: built for Salem’s 1926 tercentenary, it carries a pineapple finial, a symbol of welcome, above its domed roof.

Washington Square
East of the Salem Witch Museum and Hawthorne Hotel, surrounded by the Washington Square streets.
Once used for grazing and militia drills, Salem Common became a landscaped gathering place. Today its paths, trees and bandstand offer a green pause amid downtown’s historic landmarks.
Check city park information and the event calendar before planning. A public park is shared space; organized sessions, equipment and reserved use may need a separate conversation with the city.
Open grass, mature trees and the bandstand offer breathing room beside the downtown streets. There are no photographs assigned to this chapter yet.
