Ropes Mansion.

Allison’s house, beyond the screen.

The mansion’s exterior played Allison’s home in Hocus Pocus (1993). Behind that familiar façade is a real family history: three generations of the Ropes family lived here, and the garden was laid out in 1912.

On Essex Street, immediately west of the Witch House. Both buildings belong to the same small part of the walk.

Built between 1727 and 1729, Ropes Mansion brings Georgian architecture to Essex Street. Behind the house, a garden designed in 1912 adds another chapter to this historic property.

PEM manages the house and garden. Garden visiting hours and house tours are different; check PEM before going and ask separately about a planned portrait session.

These photographs include the mansion exterior and garden. The house and garden have separate visitor arrangements.
